File # 2023-1534

An adult male is in custody and a local coffee shop has reopened after a male was reportedly seen brandishing a hunting knife.

White Rock RCMP said officers received a report at around 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, that a male was seen outside of Laura’s Coffee Corner, brandishing a large hunting knife. He dropped the knife and a customer kicked it away.

White Rock RCMP officers were on scene within a minute of the call and the male was taken into custody. The large hunting knife was seized as evidence and charges are pending. He will be appearing in court in the morning.

No customers or members of the public were hurt in this incident, however; we understand this situation could have been frightening to witness. White Rock RCMP victim services are available free of charge to anyone needing emotional and/or trauma support. Said Constable Chantal Sears.
