Off-duty Trail RCMP assists in the arrest of wanted local man

On Friday, June 9, 2023, at 3:15 p.m. an off-duty Trail and Greater District RCMP officer spotted a 41-year-old Trail man with over a dozen alleged outstanding criminal charges seated inside a parked vehicle located in the 1600 block of Marcolin Drive, in Trail, BC.

Since May 25, 2023, officers has been searching for the man after he had removed his ankle monitoring bracelet and left his residence where he had been under house arrest.

The off-duty officer relayed the information to the on-duty frontline officers. Officers quickly attended the man’s location and arrested him without incident. Officers seized a .22 calibre handgun, ammunition, a knife, and shoulder holster during the arrest.

William David Tyler (41) of Trail, BC, will face the following eight newly sworn criminal charges in his upcoming bail hearing on Wednesday, June 14, 2023:

Count #1 – Possession of a weapon contrary to Section 88(1) of the Criminal Code
Count #2 – Possession of a restricted weapon contrary to Section 91(1) of the Criminal Code
Count #3 – Possession of a weapon without a licence contrary to Section 92(1) of the Criminal Code
Count #4 – Occupy a vehicle while in possession of a restricted firearm contrary to Section 94(1) of the Criminal Code
Count #5 – Possession of a restricted firearm with readily accessible ammunition capable of being discharges contrary to Section 95(1) of the Criminal Code
Count #6 – Breach of a release order contrary to Section 145(5)(a) of the Criminal Code
Count #7 – Breach of a release order contrary to Section 145(5)(a) of the Criminal Code
Count #8 – Breach of a release order contrary to Section 145(5)(a) of the Criminal Code

Break, Enter, and Theft to downtown Trail business

On June 10, 2023, at 4:47 a.m. a witness observed a 31-year-old Trail man smash the front door glass of a business in the 1300 block of Cedar Avenue, in Trail, BC. The thief allegedly entered the business, smashed a glass display case, and stole items before fleeing. A frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer quickly located and arrested the suspect.

Trail RCMP will forward a report to Crown Counsel detailing the alleged break, enter, theft contrary to Section 348 of the Criminal Code committed by the suspect.

We continue to have some success in solving break-ins to businesses in downtown Trail. We ask business owners to ensure their businesses are secured every night, and recommend the installation of alarms and surveillance cameras to deter theft. says Sgt. Wicentowich.

Service delivers alcohol to youths

On June 10, 2023, at 3:31 p.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer received a report from a concerned parent that local youths had liquor delivered to them by a local delivery company despite being underage. The officer referred the incident to the BC Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch who will investigate the company and incident.

Officers visited local elementary school

On June 7, 2023, Cst. Bentley (retired) and Cst. Harding visited a kindergarten class at the Glenmerry Elementary School, in Trail, BC.
