2023-3402 / 3501 / 3528 / 3539 / 3615 / 3631 /3706 et al. – Stolen bikes

Sea to Sky Squamish RCMP have received numerous reports of stolen scooters, bicycles, and dirt bikes in the last few weeks. The bikes have been stolen from storage sheds, garages, bike racks, businesses and more. In most instances, the bikes were locked, and the locks had been cut. 4 bikes have since been recovered, 3 were located hidden in bushes, and another found in a parking lot. Squamish RCMP as reminding the public to take photos of their bikes, record serial numbers, note any distinguishing features, and stay vigilant.

2023-3497 / 3539 / 3610 / 3619 – Break-ins to businesses

Over the past few weeks, Sea to Sky RCMP have had several reports of break in’s to businesses. In two instances, CCTV showed two masked individuals, who used prying tool as a way to gain entry. The suspects were able to get away with various stolen items prior to police arrival. The investigations are ongoing.

2023-3696 et al. – One-man crime spree

On June 25, 2023, Sea to Sky Squamish RCMP received numerous calls regarding a male with a large pipe smacking parking signs, plants, vehicle and various other things. The male, identified as Charles Rutledge, then yelled at a family, chasing and threatening the family members before stealing items from a backpack and fleeing the area. Police were able to locate Rutledge, and with the assistance of PDS (police dog service), he was arrested. Rutledge has been remanded into custody to await court processes on several charges.
